ITINERARY

Day 1: Iquitos – Amazon River – Monkey Island – Lodge

DAY 1

Pickup at Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport or at your hotel. Transfer to the Nanay pier, with a brief introduction to Iquitos and its history.

Next, visit the local market, followed by a boat ride on the Amazon River (approx. 1.5 hours).

Afterward, arrival at the eco-lodge and orientation. Then, excursion to Monkey Island, with the chance to spot pink dolphins.

Later, piranha fishing and a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, free time, swimming in the river, and watching the sunset. Finally, dinner at the lodge.

In the evening, a guided walk to observe Amazonian wildlife, rounding out a complete jungle experience.

Day 2: Amazonian Sunrise – Community – Return to Iquitos
DAY 2

Watch the sunrise over the Amazon—the perfect time to spot exotic birds in their natural habitat.

Breakfast at the lodge.

Visit to the community of Santa María de Fátima, where you’ll learn about their way of life and ecotourism projects.

Boat ride on the Amazon River to the community (approx. 30 minutes).

Botanical walk through the jungle, identifying medicinal plants, trees, and ancestral knowledge.

Climb to the observation tower (15 meters) to view the heron and biodiversity.

Lunch.

Return by boat to Nanay and transfer to downtown Iquitos.

End of the tour.

The Salkantay Trek with Marvelous couldn't have been better thanks to our incredible guide, Daniel. Honestly, I've never had such a great guide. Daniel is so warm, cheerful, and energetic. He wasn't just a guide, but part of our trekking family—many guides could learn something from him! Aside from that, our group was very personable, young, and motivated. The private cooks traveling with us prepared amazing food, and there was always enough of it. I've never eaten so well on a trek. Only in the last few days, when the cooks left and provided us with food at the restaurant, did the quality of the food really suffer compared to before. The accommodations were good, the sleeping bags provided were sufficient, and Daniel, our guide, tailored the route to our group's needs so everyone was satisfied.
