5-Day Pacaya Samiria Tour Amazon Expedition from Iquitos
The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, known as the “Forest of Mirrors,” is one of Peru’s most breathtaking destinations. This 5-day tour from Iquitos offers an immersive experience in the Amazon, combining river navigation, hikes through the primary rainforest, wildlife viewing, and genuine contact with nature.
During the trip, you’ll explore the Marañón River and remote areas like Yanayacu and Pucate, where you can spot pink dolphins, monkeys, exotic birds, and caimans. You’ll also enjoy unique experiences such as piranha fishing, night excursions, and a spiritual connection with giant trees like the Lupuna.
It is an ideal experience for travelers seeking adventure, nature, and total disconnection in one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.
Day 1: Iquitos – Nauta – Start of the Amazonic Expedition
DAY 1🌿
Your adventure begins with a pickup from the airport or your hotel in Iquitos. From there, you’ll travel by road to Nauta, the gateway to the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. Along the way, you’ll learn about this Amazonian town and its importance to tourism in the Loreto region.
Upon arriving at the pier, you’ll board a traditional boat to navigate the Marañón River for approximately three hours. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking scenery and, with luck, spot gray or pink dolphins in their natural habitat.
There will be a stop at the SERNANP checkpoint to register your entry into the reserve. You will then continue to the Buenos Aires Base Camp, where you will receive an orientation briefing on sustainability guidelines.
After settling in, you will explore the area, and in the evening, you will go on an exciting night excursion to discover insects, amphibians, and reptiles. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Day 2: Yanayacu – Pucate – Amazon Wildlife and Culture
