Electricity and Cell Phone/Camera Charging at Inka Jungle Lodges

Worried about running out of battery during the Inka Jungle Trek? It’s a very common concern. Between biking, trekking, and Machu Picchu, nobody wants to miss photos because of a dead battery.

🏔️ How Does Electricity Work on the Inka Jungle Trek?

The Inca Jungle Trek uses lodges in towns such as:

  • Santa María
  • Santa Teresa
  • Aguas Calientes

Unlike the Inca Trail, you don’t sleep in camps here, so you do have access to electricity most nights.

⚡ Is Electricity Available Every Day?

📌Day 1 – Santa María

  • Yes, electricity at the hotel
  • Standard Peruvian power outlets (Type A and C)
  • Overnight charging without issue

📌Day 2 – Santa Teresa

  • Electricity available
  • ⚠️ There may be occasional brief outages

📍Day 3 – Aguas Calientes

  • Stable electricity
  • Better tourist infrastructure
  • WiFi in most hotels

📍Day 4 – Machu Picchu

  • There are no power outlets inside Machu Picchu. You must arrive with a fully charged battery.

🔋 Can I charge my camera and power bank?

Yes.

Recommendations:

  • Bring a universal adapter
  • Bring a 10,000–20,000 mAh power bank
  • Don’t rely on just one outlet (sometimes there are few in shared rooms)
