ITINERARY

🗓 Huchuy Qosqo Trekking Itinerary | 3D/2N | Machu Picchu

Day 1: Cusco – Tambomachay – Pumamarca – Qoricocha – Patabamba Community

  • Minimum altitude: 3,700 m / Maximum altitude: 4,200 m
  • Approximate distance: 13 km / 7 hours of hiking

In the morning, we will depart from Cusco for Tambomachay (3,700 m), the starting point of the trek. We will begin the hike towards the Sicllaccasa Pass (4,020 m), crossing beautiful Andean landscapes and local communities. We will then continue to the viewpoint of Lake Qoricocha. After a rest, we will descend to Patabamba, a traditional community where we will spend the night in local houses with basic accommodations.

Day 2: Patabamba – Huchuy Qosqo – Lamay – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

  • Minimum altitude: 2,800 m / Maximum altitude: 3,650 m
  • Approximate distance: 12 km / 6 hours of hiking

After breakfast, we will depart for Huchuy Qosqo, an ancient Inca administrative center located above the Sacred Valley. The trail skirts narrow valleys and ancient irrigation canals, offering stunning views of the Andean landscape. We will arrive at the ruins of Huchuy Qosqo, where we will take a guided tour. We will then descend to Lamay, where we will take transportation to Ollantaytambo, and in the afternoon, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 3: Machu Picchu – Cusco

  • Minimum altitude: 2,040 m / Maximum altitude: 2,430 m

This day is dedicated to exploring the imposing citadel of Machu Picchu. We’ll take the tourist bus to the entrance and enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 hours. Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore on your own or climb an additional mountain (Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain – by reservation). In the afternoon, we’ll take the train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to Cusco by bus.
