ITINERARY
🕗 Detailed Itinerary:
1. Pickup at your hotel (Arequipa city)
The tour begins with transfer from your accommodation in the historic center to the quarry area, located on the outskirts of the city.
2. Añashuayco Quarry: Sillar Route
We will visit one of the most representative quarries in the region. Here, master stonemasons will show us how they carve sillar, a white volcanic stone used in Arequipa’s iconic buildings.
We’ll also discover sculptures and bas-relief murals carved in stone by local artists.
3. Culebrillas Quarry and Canyon Hike
We head toward the Culebrillas area, an impressive geological formation.
We begin a gentle hike of approximately 1.5 km through this narrow canyon of ochre and reddish hues, formed naturally by water erosion over the centuries.
During the tour, we’ll observe pre-Incan rock carvings and enjoy the contrast between the volcanic nature and the Arequipa sky.
4. Lunch at a country restaurant (optional)
Lunch break at a local restaurant where you can sample traditional Arequipa cuisine (not included in the tour price).
5. Panoramic View of the Misti Volcano and Agricultural Areas
On the way back, strategic stops are made to take photographs with spectacular views of the Misti Volcano, farmland, and pre-Hispanic terraces.
