7 Ausangate Lagoons Cusco Tour Itinerary

Pickup from your hotel in Cusco:

The tour begins very early. Our tour bus will pick you up at your hotel or accommodation located in the historic center of Cusco. We depart for the community of Pacchanta, located at the foot of the imposing Ausangate Mountain.

Arrival in Pacchanta and local breakfast:

After approximately 3 hours of travel, we arrive at Pacchanta (4,200 m above sea level). Here you will enjoy a hot Andean breakfast with local infusions, ideal for acclimatizing before the trek.

Start of the trek to the 7 Ausangate lagoons:

We begin the circular hike of 10 to 12 km, with a total duration of 4 to 5 hours, depending on the group’s pace. Along the trail, we will visit the following lagoons:

  • Azulcocha Lagoon
  • Otorongo Lagoon
  • Orco Otorongo Lagoon
  • Pucacocha Lagoon
  • Alqacocha Lagoon
  • Qomercocha Lagoon
  • Patacocha Lagoon

During the hike, you will be able to observe llamas, alpacas, vizcachas, Andean birds, and snow-capped peaks. Your specialized guide will explain the geography, culture, and spiritual significance of Ausangate in the Andean worldview.

Return to Pacchanta and traditional lunch:

After the hike, we will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the local community: quinoa, traditional soups, alpaca meat, and natural side dishes.

Pacchanta Hot Springs:

You will have free time to relax in Pacchanta’s natural hot springs, surrounded by mountains. Entrance is included, and it’s the perfect time to relieve the fatigue of trekking.

Return to Cusco:

We will board the shuttle to return to Cusco and end the tour.
